Spotlight: Big Sister Program

One of the main reasons our club exists is to provide support to twin moms. We have our meetings with twin-relevant topics, our family outings, playgroups, parents’ nights out, but one of the most important and best ways we support each other is one-on-one through the Big Sister Program!

Stefani
Stefani: Great Big Sis!

Stefani Langley-Palmer, Big Sister:

“When I found out I was having twins on top of the two kids I already had I was scared to death. I found the club, got paired with a big sister and it helped.

When my twins were a little older, I knew I wanted to volunteer as a big sister. I have been a big sister three times, but Natascha and I really clicked. When I went to visit her the first time and she was breast feeding exclusively I was in awe. I recognized the tired and dazed look in her eyes. I wanted to offer whatever support I could and felt that it shouldn’t end once they were out of the baby stage.

I enjoyed Natascha and loved her girls and it was a blessing to get to know her and her family. It was also amazing to feel like I was able to give back a little bit of what was given to me.”

Natascha: Thankful Little Sis!

Natascha Lesage, Little Sister:

“When Stefani first contacted me by email, I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t respond right away. My twins were only a few weeks old and I was just running on fumes. How could I have time for a new friend in my life?

Thankfully she did not give up, and called me again (at least once) before we connected. We talked on the phone and she seemed so nice. I remember her saying “you are doing a great job,” and I may have cried. [Actually, I did!]

As a first-time mom who was struggling with breastfeeding, colic, in-laws who were visiting and wanting to offer all kinds of helpful advice…well, I definitely did not feel like I was doing a great job!! Soon after, Stefani came to my house, and we were wearing almost the same shirt. It was like the universe was telling me our match was meant to be (and this mom-of-4 was relatable and approachable!).

Stefani came to offer support when my husband took business trips, and we later got our twins together for play dates. I just called her last week asking for advice about my twins, who are now almost 6 years old! I’m so grateful to have been matched with Stefani! p.s. I just met my 4th Little Sister!”
