Frequently Asked Questions

What is the San Diego Parents of Twins Club (SDPTC)?
The San Diego Parents of Twins Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing a supportive and caring community for parents of multiples throughout San Diego. Founded in 1981 as the Scripps Memorial Hospital Mothers of Twins Club, our mission is to unite parents of multiples (including twins, triplets and all higher orders of multiples) to share parenting concerns, ideas, information and education, as well as to provide support and a social environment to meet other parents of multiples.

Is SDPTC affiliated with any other clubs or organizations?
We are a local chapter of Multiples of America, which is also known as the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs. Multiples of America is a network of more than 250 local clubs representing nearly 25,000 parents of twins and higher order multiples. We are also an affiliate member of the Southern California Mothers of Multiples Clubs.

How many members are there?
There are more than 170 member families.

Do I have to have twins to join?

Yes, you must be a parent or guardian to twins, triplets or higher order multiples to join.

What are the benefits of joining?

We provide education, support and a community for parents of multiples. Membership includes access to all of our events and programs, such as monthly educational meetings, “Big Sister” mentoring, access to a closed Facebook group for members, playgroups, new parent socials and seasonal parties for the whole family. Club members also automatically become members of our affiliate clubs, Multiples of America and the Southern California Mothers of Multiples Clubs. Learn more.

How much does it cost to join?
Membership dues are $40 per year and include access to all of our events and programs. Membership dues for parents of twins ages 4 and up are reduced to $25. Members who volunteer on our board are eligible for further reduction in dues. Our membership year runs from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 of the following year. Dues are prorated for members who join after Nov. 1.

How do I register to become a member?
Online membership is fast and easy. Just fill out the request form found here and you will receive an invitation to join. If you have additional questions, feel free to send us an e-mail.

Where do my dues go?
Membership dues help fund all of our club events and programs. Dues also include membership in Multiples of America and the Southern California Mothers of Multiples Clubs, which provide additional benefits and resources for our members (see more about Member Benefits).

Where and when does SDPTC meet?
Our monthly meetings are held on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm in the UTC area. You can also come as early as 6:30 pm for member social time. Learn more about meetings.

What type of events does the club have?

Our events include monthly educational meetings, playgroups, new parent socials and seasonal parties for the whole family.

Does SDPTC have playgroups?

Yes, we have age-specific playgroups and even one for expecting parents that get together frequently. We also often have play dates for all kids six and under. Playgroups are a great way to meet and get to know other members in the club.

Are there opportunities to help/volunteer?
Yes. Our club is run entirely by member volunteers, so this is a wonderful way to give back to the club. We have spots for larger roles as a board member, and smaller, one-time roles to help support specific events or programs. We welcome both moms and dads! E-mail for more information about volunteering.
